What motivated you to get and stay in shape?
Health reasons motivated me to take off some weight I had gained over the last several years. I'm also all about feeling more comfortable in my own skin — it's as simple as that. The trainers at Power Hour 360 have been incredibly patient and supportive, helping me with modifications.
What is your favorite physical attribute about yourself?
I have no idea. I'm a work in progress.
What would be harder to give up, sugar or salt? Coffee or alcohol?
All of the above. I love salty snacks, sweet treats, wine, vodka and beer. And I'm obsessed with coffee. Keeping it real - I struggle with moderation and have to truly push myself to be consistent and make smart choices. I own a public relations firm and have some food and beverage clients on my roster right now - so temptation is everywhere. I like to tell myself that "free can be expensive," so just because I can indulge, doesn't mean I should.
What is something you've always wanted to do but have been too scared to try?
Purge junk in my house — it's very intimidating to let go of things. I'm starting on a major purge in September and I can't wait.
If you could trade places with one person for a day who would it be and why?
My younger brother, Joel Hamburg, who has Down syndrome. He is the most consistently joyful person I have ever met.
What accomplishment are you proudest of?
I rebounded from a really challenging health and business downturn in 2012. When I was going through it, I thought I would never dig out of it. I did and I'm stronger for it.
WHAT POWERS YOU? (Motivates, inspires, ignites passion, etc.)
I'm super motivated by results and the little joys along the way, like fitting more comfortably in an airplane seat, rocking high heels without my feet killing me, noticing my thighs aren't rubbing together on the treadmill. The list goes on. I'm also powered by helping people; companies and nonprofits shine a little brighter. I think that's why I love public relations.
